We’re Jonny and Sandy - the Canadian queer, cisgender duo behind Operation Soap! We love solid gold disco, queer politics, 70s kitsch, our ginger cats, and checking our privilege.
SOAP is short for 'Operation Soap', the Metro Toronto Police's code name for the 1981 Toronto bathhouse raids. We've reclaimed this name with a simple mission: to recognize, reimagine, and gayify Canada in all its glory holes. Sorry not sorry.
We share a deep reverence for queer histories. For us, Operation Soap is a protest. It’s about pushing boundaries. It’s a platform to express our pride, our rage, and our love for Canada’s gay past, present, and future. We believe in being loud - and a little goofy - so we hope our apparel adds to the glorious thunder our community continues to build!
Please reach out to us if you have questions, feedback, or feel anything we’ve put out there is insensitive or triggering. We’re dedicated listeners.
Your best gay hosers,
Jonny & Sandy
